Traveling/Journey Cards
I was reading 'Tarot Tells the Tale' by James Ricklef when I came upon a passage he wrote involving travel/journey cards. Below are the cards he says that are traditionally associated with travel/journeys - to which I have added too.
Traveling/Journey Cards
Trump #0 (22) - The Fool
Trump #7 - The Chariot
8 of Wands
8 of
Cups
6 of Swords
Knight of Wands [any knight]
1.) Would you agree with these cards as far as indicating possible
travel/journey scenario's?
2.) Do you have other cards you'd add to the
travel/journey list?
-------------------------------------------------------------
How about The Wheel of Fortune, the Knight of Wands and the Knight of
Swords?
Don I have often seen the Knights representing travel, especially the Knight
of Wands, which seems to be suggestive of the excitement of going on a trip.
Sometimes the Knight of Swords appears when the querent is grumpy about going on
the trip.
For those twenty-somethings like myself who make the big trip
to Europe/Asia (most common destinations) for a long backpacking experience, or
working holiday, The World turns up all the time. I suppose because we all
expect to have our minds broadened, or some have the desire to 'find
themselves'.
Rieklef calls the 8 of Cups a lonely vision quest - but I'm thinking more
along the lines of 'On the Road Again - by Willie Nelson'. Or a physical moving
away/journey.
6 of Swords - a slow, introspective boat ride. [Bridge Over
Troubled Water S&G]. Often indicates moving away from a violent
situation.
8 of Wands - a journey of great power, speed, and energy.
[Rock You Like A Hurricane - ??? Forget the name of the band right this minute -
but they were European.]
The 8 of Wands [Rx] was the card he was talking
about as the final card in a three card reading asked by Dorothy (Wizard of Oz)
about if she and her dog Toto would ever get away from her aunt and find a
little excitement.
He was relating the 8 of Wands [Rx] to the tornado
that zips Dorothy off to Oz.
I was thinking an actual physical journey
but they could fit introspective journey's as well.
The Chariot - 'Baby
You Can Drive My Car - The Beatles' LOL
The Fool - wandering around
aimlessly with no particular destination in mind and soaking up the joy's of
nature and living. Just living in the moment. [Groovin - The Young
Rascals]
